Pancare raising awareness at a shopping centre near you
Pancare Foundation is pleased to partner with Adflex Marketing and Loyalty Promotions, raising awareness of pancreatic and other upper gastrointestinal (GI) cancers in communities across Australia. The ‘Support, Save & Win’ promotion will help provide vital funds for Pancare’s support services for patients and families impacted by these cancers, and investment into research towards earlier detection and improved treatments.
Have you seen Pancare representatives at your local shopping centre recently? Here’s why!
Adflex Marketing and Loyalty Promotions have been engaged to conduct the promotion on Pancare’s behalf via face to face fundraisers and tele-fundraisers in community spaces across Australia. The promotion offers members of the community the chance to access exclusive discounts, all while doing good and supporting a great cause. With each purchase, the supporter will receive a promotional code which gives access to exclusive deals, and as an added bonus they are also entered into a major draw for a chance to win $250,000. Tickets start from $20 with proceeds of sales supporting the work of Pancare.
Starting a conversation around the symptoms of upper GI cancers
Pancare Foundation CEO Doug Hawkins said the campaign was helping start a conversation about symptoms of upper GI cancers and increasing knowledge and understanding within the community. “The more people you talk to, the more you realise that these cancers have touched the lives of so many Australians. This is a very important and exciting opportunity for Pancare. The awareness and funds raised through this initiative are critical in helping Pancare accelerate survival rates and deliver essential support to the thousands of Australians affected by pancreatic and upper GI cancers every year”, he said.
Adflex sales agent Shannon who lost her grandfather to pancreatic cancer said helping to raise the profile for upper GI cancers and Pancare was personally rewarding. “The upper GI cancers that Pancare support have such shockingly low survival rates, and it is so important to be able to raise funds not only for research but also to be able to support families and those living with cancer financial and emotional support. It has been an amazing experience to educate people in the general public on these issues, and bring so much more awareness to this much needed cause. There have been people that have shared their own amazing stories and also those who have been moved by the work that we are doing as fundraisers on behalf of Pancare.”
Over 11,600 Australians are expected to be diagnosed with an upper gastrointestinal cancer this year alone. Often referred to as a silent killer, the upper GI cancers including pancreatic, liver, stomach, biliary and oesophageal cancers, tend to go undiagnosed in the early stages due to the presentation of vague systems. With no early detection tests, limited treatment options and severely underfunded research, the average five-year survival rate across the five cancers is just 20 percent.
National exposure support Pancare’s strategic plan
The national exposure that the ‘Support, Save and Win’ promotion will bring supports Pancare’s strategic plan – to raise community awareness about upper GI cancers, to continue to increase investment into patient and carer support services to reach a higher proportion of those Australians currently living with an upper GI cancer, and to additionally increase investment into research that contributes to a doubling of the five-year survival rate across the Upper GI cancers by 2025.
